Hard gainers have metabolisms that are lightning fast. Their rapid metabolism has to be countered with an anabolic diet that will force their muscles to grow at all times throughout the day.

Hard gainers are the guys who are rail thin and seem to never be able to make their muscles grow larger – no matter what they do. Typically, they have ectomorph body type, but not always. Just as obese individuals must follow a strict set of nutrition and exercise guidelines to improve their physiques, the same is true for skinny hard gainers. Nutrition will play the biggest role for hard gainers looking to pack on pounds of muscle mass.

Hard gainers have metabolisms that are lightning fast. Their rapid metabolism has to be countered with an anabolic diet that will force their muscles to grow at all times throughout the day. The best way to accomplish this is by eating high carbohydrate meals every 2 or 3 hours throughout the day. The carbohydrates will cause a release in insulin that will send nutrient rich blood rushing to your muscles. For the best results, your muscles will need to be in a constant state of recovery from the stresses of intense weight training.

By the way, hard gainers will want to weight train 4 or 5 days per week to ensure that their muscles are constantly rebuilding and growing. However, you need to keep in mind that training more than 5 days per week will actually hinder your long term muscle gains because your body requires some time to rest and recover for optimum muscle growth.

If you are a hard gainer who is desperately wanting to build larger muscles and get ripped, you must combine consistent weight training with high carbohydrate meals consumed frequently throughout the day. A good rule of thumb for hard gainers is to consume meals consisting of about 70% carbohydrates and 30% protein. Because hard gainers do not have to worry about getting fat it isn’t really worth worrying about the fat content of their food as they will receive all of the fat their body needs with all of the food they will be eating each day.

Overcoming hard gainer genetics can be a challenge, but if you feed your body enough calories, with the anabolic ratio of nutrients provided above, your muscles will have no choice but to grow larger.
